Hinesville: Hinesville resident and business owner Charlene L. Parlett has announced her intent to run for City Council Seat District 2 that was recently vacated by Councilman Bobby Ryon.
Parlett is co-owner of Southeast Auto Service, LLC and has lived in Hinesville since 1995. She is married to Andrew Parlett and has two children, Rachel, 16, and Ryan, 12.
Parlett has been on the Board of Directors for the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce for four years and has served as Treasurer for two years. She is a graduate of Leadership Liberty, a county-wide program to train upcoming community leaders. She has owned Southeast Auto Service for five years, and was featured in Self-Employed Magazine in 2009. Prior to 2005 she was the Marketing Director for VIP Office Supply & Furniture; during her employment there she won a prestigious “40 Under 40 Top Young Business Achiever” Award from the Savannah Business Report & Journal in 2004.
Parlett is a member of the International Christian Wealth Builders Foundation and was a featured speaker at their 2009 Business Conference. She is an active member of Bethesda Church, holding previous and current positions as Youth Director, Drama Director, and Worship Team Member; she currently is the Coordinator for their Financial Peace University.
“I fell in love with the people of Hinesville when we visited in 1994. When we visited again in 1995, we never left. This has been a great place to raise our children, and we have had opportunities to not only start a business, but to actively participate in the growth of our community and be a part of what makes it special,” said Parlett. “I am running for this city council seat because I believe in citizen-servanthood; this is my chance to give back to the citizens that have given so much to me and my family.” Parlett feels that, if elected, her experience in leadership roles in both business and non-profit organizations will provide her with the necessary decision-making abilities and strengths to fulfill the City Council position. |
